Terms of Service

These terms govern your use of Firefly Abroad ("Firefly"), a web application for planning a move abroad. By creating an account you agree to these terms.

The service

Firefly provides planning tools: a questionnaire-driven country comparison, an AI-generated relocation roadmap, budget tracking, scouting-trip planning, and related features. Features available to you depend on your plan (Free or Explorer).

Important: Firefly is not professional advice

Firefly provides general information and AI-generated planning content to help you organize your research. It is not legal, immigration, tax, financial, or medical advice, and no content in the product creates a professional-client relationship. Visa rules, tax laws, and costs change frequently and vary by personal circumstances. Always verify critical information with official government sources and consult qualified professionals (immigration lawyers, tax advisors) before making decisions. AI-generated content can contain errors or be out of date.

Your account

• You must provide accurate information and keep your password secure.
• You are responsible for activity under your account.
• One account per person; accounts are not transferable.

Plans and payment

• The Free plan includes the features listed on our pricing page at no cost.
• The Explorer plan is a one-time payment with no recurring subscription. What "lifetime access" covers is set out in Explorer lifetime access below.
• Payments are processed by Stripe. Prices are in USD unless stated otherwise.
• Refunds are governed by our Refund Policy (14-day money-back guarantee).

Explorer lifetime access

• What "lifetime" means. Your Explorer access lasts for as long as Firefly operates the Explorer plan. It refers to the life of the service, not your lifetime, and it is not a perpetual license.
• What's included. All Explorer features available today, and any Explorer features we add later, at no extra cost. Separately priced plans or add-ons (for example, a future Pro plan) are not included.
• Early access pricing. The current Explorer price is an early access price and may increase for new buyers. If you have already bought Explorer, you will never be charged again for it or moved onto a subscription.
• Personal use. Explorer is a personal, non-transferable license for one account. It cannot be shared, resold or transferred to another person.
• Fair use of AI features. AI-generated content is provided for reasonable personal planning use. We may limit automated, excessive or abusive use of AI features to keep the service sustainable for everyone, and will give notice where practical.
• Features may change. We may change, replace or retire individual features as the product evolves. We will not materially reduce the Explorer plan's core planning tools for existing buyers.
• If Firefly shuts down or changes hands. If we discontinue the service, we will give at least 60 days' notice and a way to export your data. Access ends when the service ends; no partial refunds are given beyond our Refund Policy, except where the law requires otherwise. If another company takes over the service, your Explorer access will continue under it.
• Deleting your account ends your Explorer access. It is not refundable outside the refund window.

Beta testing

If you join the Firefly Abroad beta through an invite, these terms also apply.

• Length. You get full Explorer access free for 45 days, starting the day you create your account. No payment details are needed.
• When it ends. Your account moves to the Free plan. Everything you have built stays saved; features outside the Free plan are locked until you buy Explorer.
• Tester price. Beta testers can buy Explorer for $99 (one payment) instead of the standard price. The offer is tied to your account and has no deadline. The usual 14-day money-back guarantee applies.
• Your feedback. What you send through the feedback button, surveys, emails and calls is used to improve Firefly. You are under no obligation to send any.
• Quotes. We quote you publicly only with your written consent, and then by first name, destination and year, for example "Sarah, moving to Portugal, 2027". You can withdraw consent at any time.
• Emails. During the beta we send a few short emails: getting-started tips, a check-in, an invitation to a short call, and a note when your beta ends.
• Beta software. Features may change or have bugs during the beta. Firefly is still not professional advice.

Acceptable use

• Do not attempt to access other users' data or disrupt the service.
• Do not use the service for unlawful purposes.
• Do not resell, scrape, or systematically extract the service's content or data.

Your content

You retain ownership of the information you enter into Firefly. You grant us the limited license needed to store and process it in order to provide the service (including sending relevant inputs to our AI provider to generate your content), as described in our Privacy Policy.

Availability and changes

We aim to keep Firefly available and improving, but the service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind. We may add, change, or remove features. If we ever discontinue the service, we will provide at least 60 days' notice and a way to export your data.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Firefly and its operator are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for decisions made in reliance on content in the product. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for the service in the 12 months preceding the claim.

Termination

You may delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms. Paid access that is terminated for a terms violation is not refundable outside the refund policy window.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms; material changes will be reflected in the effective date above and, where appropriate, notified in the app. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
